Dashboard Overview

Once logged in, you will be directed to your dashboard. Here's what you can find:

Left Section:

  • Navigation: Quick links to your home page, profile, and courses.
  • E-Resources: Important resources for your studies.

Middle Section:

  • Course Overview: A list of your courses and the most recent updates.

Right Section:

  • Private Files: A space to upload and access important course-related files.
  • Calendar: Shows important dates and deadlines for course activities.
  • Upcoming Events: Lists upcoming deadlines for assignments, quizzes, and exams.

Course Layout

Moodle courses are displayed in a three-column view:

  • Center Column: This is where most of your course content is located. It is organized by:
    • Topics
    • Weeks
    • Modules
  • The content is divided into sections and may include readings, assignments, quizzes, or forums.

Setting Up Your Moodle Profile

After your first login, it is important to complete your profile:

  • Your profile includes personal information such as your name, email, and the courses you are enrolled in.
  • You can set up and update your profile by following the steps in the Managing Your Profile training guide.

Technical Considerations

  • Session Timeout: Be aware that if you are inactive for 4 hours, your session will automatically log out, and any unsaved work will be lost. To avoid this, compose your work in an external editor (like Notepad or Word) before pasting it into Moodle.
  • File Formats: Make sure that the files you upload are in a format compatible with your instructor’s requirements. For example, avoid using .docx if some users might not be able to open it.
  • Mobile Access: Moodle can be accessed on mobile devices, but it is recommended to use it mainly for viewing content. For critical tasks like submitting assignments or quizzes, use a desktop or laptop for best compatibility.
